Should bankers box each other more often?

22 July 2008

Forget nightclubs and bars – is the boxing ring the best place for hot-blooded bankers to vent their frustrations?

Thirty-four fighters from Hong Kong’s finance firms are now training for the second annual Hedge Fund Fight Nite, better known as the 'Ding Dong in Hong Kong'.

On 30 October the 10 best banking boxers will go head-to-head over three two-minute rounds. Reigning champ Tobias “The Wight Rhino” Bland – founder of hedge fund Enhanced Investment Products – will be battling to keep his crown.

So if you’re fearing for your career, maybe you should step into the ring and sock it to your boss. Hate the competition? Here’s your chance to really knock them out. And if you’re too chicken to compete, you can watch the bloodbath from the safety of a black-tie charity dinner.

Can using your fists help you forget the credit crunch? Steel yourself for a financial fight below.

I went to this event last year - honestly it's a good night - proper boxing, money goes to charity. Better than your average fund raising dinner, it sure beats a key note speech!!

  • Boys, boys, boys - face up to it: you are puny, desk-bound bankers. You are NOT fighters! None of you would last half a round against a construction worker.

  • This isn't an issue a problem for female bankers, We can do our jobs without having to get aggressive.
